Turning on two-factor sign-in
What this is
Section titled “What this is”Two-factor sign-in adds a second check when you log into FleetLoop. After you type your password, FleetLoop asks for a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone — an app like Google Authenticator, 1Password, or Authy that generates a fresh code every 30 seconds. Even if someone else gets your password, they can’t sign in without that code too. Turning this on is your own choice, unless your shop’s owner has required it for every staff member — in that case you’ll see a banner asking you to set it up before you can continue.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Have on hand:
- Your FleetLoop password (you may be asked to confirm it)
- A phone with an authenticator app installed — Google Authenticator, 1Password, and Authy all work
- Go to Settings → Security.
- Click Enable two-factor authentication.

- If FleetLoop asks you to confirm your password, type it and click Confirm.
- Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code on screen. If you can’t scan it, type the secret key shown underneath into the app instead.

- Type the 6-digit code your app is showing right now into the 6-digit code field.
- Click Enable two-factor authentication.
- FleetLoop shows you 10 recovery codes. Click Download as .txt or Copy all and save them somewhere safe — each code works only once, and they’re your only way back in if you lose your phone.

- Click I’ve stored them — continue.
How to know it worked
Section titled “How to know it worked”Settings → Security now lists Authenticator app with the date you enrolled, and a Disable button in place of the Enable button. The next time you sign in, FleetLoop asks for your 6-digit code right after your password.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”“That code is incorrect.” Authenticator codes refresh every 30 seconds, so make sure you’re typing the one showing right now, and that your phone’s clock is set correctly. Try again with a fresh code.
I lost my phone, or can’t get to my authenticator app. On the sign-in screen, enter your email and password as usual, then click Lost your code? Use a recovery code. Enter your email, password, and one of the 10 recovery codes you saved when you turned this on. Once you’re back in, go to Settings → Security to turn off two-factor authentication and set it up again on your new phone.
I lost my phone AND my recovery codes. On the recovery page, click Lost your recovery codes too? and email support from the address you use to sign in. We’ll verify your identity and reset your second factor, usually within one business day.
My shop requires this and I can’t skip it. Your shop’s owner has turned on a policy requiring two-factor sign-in for every staff member. Follow the steps above — you won’t be able to continue into FleetLoop until you finish setting it up.
