Link a vehicle to live tracking
What this is
Section titled “What this is”Once your shop has connected a Tesla or Smartcar account, each matching vehicle in your fleet can show its live location, battery or fuel level, and tire pressure right on its own page — without you having to ask the renter. This guide covers viewing and using that live tracking on a vehicle. Connecting the account and matching vehicles to it happens in Settings — see Tesla or Smartcar first if you haven’t set that up yet.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Your shop must have already connected Tesla or Smartcar under Settings → Integrations → Vehicle tracking, and matched this vehicle to a tracked car there.
- The vehicle must already be added to your fleet — see Add a vehicle.
- Go to Fleet, click the vehicle, then click the Vehicle tab.

- If the vehicle hasn’t been matched to a tracking account yet, FleetLoop shows a message saying tracking isn’t set up, with a link to Settings → Vehicle tracking — follow that link to connect and match it first.
- If it’s already matched but there’s no data yet, click Locate now to check the vehicle right away.

- Once data comes in, the tab shows the vehicle’s odometer, battery or fuel level, and tire pressure on one side, and its last known location on a map on the other.

- If the vehicle is tracked by more than one source, use the Tracking source dropdown to switch between them.
- Click Locate now any time you want a fresh check instead of waiting for the next automatic one.
How to know it worked
Section titled “How to know it worked”The Vehicle tab shows current numbers for odometer, battery or fuel, and tire pressure, along with a “last updated” note and a pin on the map at the vehicle’s location.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”“Vehicle tracking needs attention — reconnect in Settings.” The connection to Tesla or Smartcar needs to be reconnected — follow the link to Settings → Vehicle tracking and reconnect it.
“Try again in [some number of] seconds” after clicking Locate now. FleetLoop only allows one manual check per minute, per vehicle — wait for the countdown, then try again.
“Smartcar tracking is not active yet” or a billing message. This vehicle is matched, but tracking hasn’t started — often because billing needs attention. Follow the Review vehicle tracking link in Settings to resolve it.
