Square

This is how to connect FleetLoop to a Square account you already use for in-person sales. It’s a good fit if you’re already running Square at your counter and want customer rental payments to land in that same Square balance, instead of opening a separate account.

  • You must be the shop owner. Managers and staff can’t connect or disconnect a payment provider.
  • You need an existing Square account with at least one location already set up.
  • Know the sign-in details for that Square account.
  • Only one payment provider can be connected at a time. If another provider is already connected, disconnect it first.
  1. In FleetLoop, go to Settings → Payments.

  1. Click Connect Square. This opens Square’s sign-in page in a new browser tab.
  2. Sign in with your Square username and password.
  3. When Square asks which location to connect, pick the one you want customer payments to go to.

  1. Approve the connection. Square closes the tab and sends you back to FleetLoop.
  2. Back on the Payments page, the Square tile now shows a Connected badge and your merchant ID.

To accept tap payments from customers’ phones or cards, you need to turn on Tap to Pay separately — this isn’t done from FleetLoop.

  1. On a computer, go to the Square Dashboard website (not the Square app on your phone).
  2. Go to Payment methods.
  3. Turn on Tap to Pay on iPhone.

The Square tile on the Payments page shows a Connected badge, your merchant ID, and a status of Active.

“Square connection is missing required permissions.” You didn’t accept every permission Square asked for during sign-in. Click Connect Square again and accept all the requested permissions this time.

A banner says your Square access token expired. FleetLoop couldn’t renew the connection automatically, so new customer payments may fail. Try Refresh access token on the Payments page first. If that doesn’t clear the banner, click Disconnect and then Connect Square again.

“Only the shop owner can manage payment providers.” You’re signed in as a manager or staff member. Ask the shop owner to connect Square, or have them add you as an owner first.
