Run a vehicle checklist

A vehicle checklist is a structured inspection you run on a car and keep a record of. Each item is marked pass, fail, or not applicable, and some items ask for a measurement instead. Items marked safety critical can pull the vehicle out of service automatically when they fail, so a car with a real problem does not get rented in that condition.

Before you start

• The vehicle must already be added to your fleet (see Add a vehicle).
• Have the vehicle in front of you, along with anything you need to take readings (a tread depth gauge, for example).

Steps

1. Go to Fleet and tap the vehicle you want to inspect.

2. Scroll to Inspections and tap Start inspection. Past results are listed here too, so you can see when the vehicle was last checked.

3. Work down the checklist section by section. For each item, tap Pass, Fail, or N/A.

4. For a measurement item, such as tire tread depth, type the value and press Return to record it.

5. The counter at the bottom tracks how many items you have answered. Once every required item is answered, tap Complete inspection.

Troubleshooting

A measurement did not save. Type the value and press Return before moving to the next section. If the section counter has not gone up, the reading was not recorded.

The vehicle went into maintenance on its own. That is expected when a safety critical item fails. The vehicle is held back from rentals until the problem is resolved and its status is changed back.

“Complete inspection” is greyed out. One or more required items are still unanswered. Required items are marked with an asterisk, and the counter at the bottom shows how many are left.
